This January transfer window is always a time of intense speculation and possible major moves. A number of prominent players are being connected to transfers away from their present teams. Here is a look at a selection of the key names who are poised to be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, which has left the forward available, reports suggest a major move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal featuring a substantial release clause applicable for a two-week window at the start of the month. Recent developments indicate the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Former interested parties such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to other options, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The English centre-back has excel for Crystal Palace this season a summer move to Anfield falling through. With his deal set to run out in the close season, January is the London club's final chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite clubs, such as Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a January exit remains difficult, especially given the coach's dependence on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh forward has found starting minutes limited at Tottenham this campaign. Although being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started just a handful of league matches. It is understood the North London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the right price, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an inquiry.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be poised for a return to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still only twenty-eight, while his agreement ending in the summer, he is a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça following new coach Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a winter exit looks increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially linked as a potential suitor, but that move now appears off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific England centre-forward has continued finding the net frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League could boost his dwindling hopes of being in the England squad. However, securing a deal poses major challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to sell him, and his reported huge weekly wages render any agreement difficult. Kees Smit

This highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. This 19-year-old is widely expected to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately £22 million.
