Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The motive of the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, police said.
How It Happened
Authorities indicated that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a premises near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, it was reported.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a individual with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the incident.
