Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down after a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a group of talented individuals. The song showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the project have clarified that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
