Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to change things and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
